Friends of Kings Park (Inc.)

The members meetings are held in the beautiful new 'Green Room' of the Kings Park Education Building. Camouflaged and insulated under a hill and the car park, you can find it by turning right half way along Fraser Avenue, then following the signage to the far end of the Car Park past the Administration Building.

The guest speaker at the June members meeting will be Chris Swarts, Environmental Field Operator at Bold Park.

Chris's presentation will be avout his recent adveture to South Africa, funded through the 2012 Vic Galea schoarship by the Friends of Kings Park. Chris spent three weeks in Cape Town working at the Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden (pictured above) on the Millennium seed bank program as well as working with the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW). Both MSB and CREW are aiming to monitor and conserve South Africa's threatened plant species.

'In my presentation I will provide information and photos on why I chose South Africa, the similarties in our conservation efforts to protect and manage vulnerable and threatened flora, and apply what I have learn't here in Bold Park.'
